Roadworks: 13-week project commences in Ballyclare

Work on the storm sewer, which will serve a new development in the town, got under way today and will take approximately 13 weeks to complete.

A NI Water spokesperson said: “The work on site commenced today (July 4) and it is anticipated that the work will take approximately 13 weeks to complete. The first section of work will be through private lands, and work on the road will commence around number 57 Ballynure Road and will be located in the centre of the road. There will be no work on site from Monday, July 11 until Monday, July 25.

“Detailed traffic management plans have been discussed and agreed with TransportNI to try to minimise the impact of these works on residents, businesses and road users. In order to allow the work to be carried out safely it will be necessary to have a road closure in place on the main Ballynure Road. This road closure will commence on the July 25 and will be in place for five weeks. The road will be closed in sections as the work progresses and access will be maintained for residents/businesses and the leisure centre during this time. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
