Roadworks are completed early

Councillor Robbie Butler has welcomed the completion of a £350,000 road improvement scheme on A26 Moira Road. Work started in June and was completed on schedule before the end of September.

The scheme provides new right turning pockets on the A26 Moira Road for vehicles turning right into Lough Road.

“Last week I was happy to welcome the second phase of improvements at the junction of the Moira Road and Lough Road,” said Mr Butler. “This week I am delighted to announce that the first phase of works has been completed ahead of schedule.

“The right hand turn into the Lough Road is notoriously difficult and leads to tailbacks.

“These turning pockets will increase traffic flow and remove the temptation for drivers to make unsafe turns. I would like to thank my party colleague Transport Minister Danny Kennedy for his unfailing support for road investment in Lisburn.”
