Robbery with knife thwarted

A YOUNG man armed with a knife was thwarted in his attempt to rob a Lurgan shop.

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted armed robbery at commercial premises in the Albert Street area of Lurgan on Tuesday, February 16.

Just before 8pm police received a report that a lone man, thought to be brandishing a knife and with his face partially covered, had entered the shop and threatened a female employee.

The female chased the male out of the premises and he ran off towards the William Street area.

The intruder is described as being aged between 19 and 20 years, of thin build and pale complexion, and wearing a white hooded top with navy stripes over a grey hooded top and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Police are working to establish if this incident is linked to a similar occurrence at commercial premises in the same area on February 14 when a young man made off with a small sum of cash.
