The game involves pupils demonstrating their speed of response to sets of numbers on cards which they must instantly manipulate by adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing to come up with a score of 24. The top pupils can do the maths in their heads in what seems like a fraction of a second.

Other pupils who reached the last sixteen of the event were: Philip Beattie (Garryduff ), Ciaran Bradley, Aine Grant (Carlane), Joel Blair, Jessie Gray (Kilmoyle), Nathan Campbell (Randalstown Central), Kirsty Miller (Eden), Eoghain McGivern, Eamonn McKeown (St MacNissi’s), Maria McNamee (St Joseph’s, Dunloy), James McTeague (Maine Integrated) and James Wallis (Greenisland).
