Robert on stage again for dad

Robert treaded the boards at Coleraine Town Hall for over 30 years during his time with the Provincial Players.

And he will be back on the old stage again on Friday 4 March with some very familiar faces.

This time it’s a fundraising night of entertainment for charity.

“We are holding a Variety Concert in the Town Hall in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care,” he told the Coleraine Times.

“We have some amazing acts lined up and it’s sure to be a fantastic night and I’d encourage everyone to come along and support us.

“Irish Dance sensations Innova will be performing as well as 15-year-old classical singer Eimear Friel, Gospel Singer Leslie Mathhews and a few of my olf Panto pals Michelle Howard, Johnny Johnston and Leroy Dempster.

“I will also be linking up again with my old pal Arnie McCleary.

“He is flying in from England especially for it and we’re looking forward to getting back on stage again.

“Arnie and I have played baddie/goodie, goodie/baddie and goodie/goodie over the years and now know how each other is going to breathe on stage.

“We have had some great laughs down the years and I’m sure it will all click in together like old times once we get on to the stage again.”

The evening will also have personal significance for Robert and his family.

“Unfortunately I think we’ve all been effected by cancer in some way,” said Robert.

“I sadly lost my father before Christmas because of it. Kenny Lowe approached me about helping out with this fundraiser as his daughter is a Macmillan nurse.

“They and the Marie Curie nurses do an amazing job and hopefully we can raise some money for what is a very worthwhile cause.”
