The Blackwater Bar was packed to capacity with friends of the organiser Robert Stewart turning out in force not only to enjoy an evening of music and craic but also to contribute to the Friends of the Cancer Centre.

Robert was diagnosed with prostate cancer some time ago and had to undergo a series of treatments which, so far, have greatly helped him in his recovery process.

Because of the care and attention he received from the medical team he decided he would raise funds on their behalf.

His close friends including Ivan King helped him plan the evening in the Blackwater and the support was overwhelming.

People really turned out to support me and I really appreciate it,” Robert said.

“We had a very good night and everyone enjoyed themselves. I’m delighted that we will be able to donate a good amount to the Friends of the Cancer Centre,” the 54-year-old added.

Robert would like to thank Stephen McKillop from the Blackwater for all his help and to those who supported the event as well as those who supplied prizes for the raffle.

A cheque will be presented at a later date.
