Robert’s Easter Draw for Friends of Cancer Centre

When Dervock man Robert Stewart was diagnosed with prostate cancer more than two years ago he vowed it would not rob him of leading as normal a life as possible.

Robert made himself a promise that whatever happened he would do all he could to help charitable causes.

Last April, he and his co-workers raised a whopping £4000 plus for the Friends of the Cancer Centre and the following September collected in excess of £3000 for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

His latest venture – an Easter draw – has so far totalled £1400 again for the Friends of the Cancer Centre which is based at Belfast City Hospital. He hasn’t done it all on his own and is thankful for the support of his family and friends including Ivan King, Tom Christie and Shirley McKinley in whose premises, The Scenic Inn, the winners of the draw were revealed.

Prizewinners on the night were: Angela Hutchinson, Brian McCrellis, Hilary Ann Hickinson, Hazel Taggart, Roberta McKane, Duessa Martin, Sadie Kane, Roy and May McIntyre, Seamus Burns, Graham McIntyre Jnr., Dot McClements, Darcie McConaghie, Arlene Downs, Anthony McAujley, Jude Kaner, Robert McAleese, Adam Nicholl and Lyla Stewart.
