Robinson encouraged by response on social housing

LOCAL Assemblyman and councillor, Ken Robinson, has described the positive response from the Minister for Social Development regarding social housing in East Antrim as "encouraging news."

The Ulster Unionist MLA, responding to Alex Attwood’s reply to him regarding housing need in his constituency said: “I had continuously lobbied the Minister’s predecessor, Margaret Ritchie, over the need to address the growing demand for social housing in East Antrim. The fact that 45 new homes will be included in this year’s Development Programme is, I feel, a positive response to this constant pressure.”

Mr Robinson added: “In parallel to this new build aspect of the Department’s Social Housing Development Programme, almost 800 properties were re-let across my constituency last year.

“Both of these approaches will go some way to addressing the waiting lists for homes in Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey.”
