“As we approach another Remembrance Day and the Poppy Appeal is in full swing, I am hoping that everyone will be able to contribute to this most worthy of causes.

“2014 is the centenary of the start of WW1, and the carnage that war resulted in. Since then there have been many other conflicts around the world, and all of them have resulted in injury for some service personnel and the ultimate sacrifice for others.

“The Poppy Appeal helps look after the families and injured from all conflicts, including those who served in Northern Ireland.

“I fully appreciate that money is tight for everyone, but to buy a poppy is to help those who fought for our freedom.

“It is also essential that we recognised that people from across society fought, died and were injured in these conflicts so, I believe, we should do what we can to help these brave individuals.”
