In Carrick, Barnardo’s provides support for families through Horizon Sure Start, counselling for children who have been bereaved and a Professional Fostering Service.

The shop, which first opened two years ago, has slowly been building a following as more people discover the range of goods it has to offer, said manager Adele Fyffe.

“Our volunteers always say they would encourage anyone thinking of volunteering to give it a go as you will never regret it,” she added.
