Rotarians collect to help save children from poliomyelitis

THE Rotary Club of Newtownabbey collected £1,230 for the 'Thanks for Life - Eradication of Polio' project last weekend at the Tesco stores at Abbey Retail Park, Northcott Centre and Carmoney Road.

“Once again, our thanks to the general public for their support for this Rotary worldwide project,” said Martin Sayliss of the Rotary Club.

“Polio is a crippling, and sometimes fatal, disease and still a harrowing reality for children in parts of Africa and Asia - and it threatens children everywhere.

“It is highly virulent and only an air flight away from the UK. Every 1 raised in this campaign will purchase five doses of the special anti-polio vaccine which can protect children against polio, forever.”
