Rotarians put in the picture

A WELL-known local artist has visited the Rotary Club of Carrickfergus to talk about the skill of oil painting.

Manson Blair described the preparation of the canvas, and then treated members to a demonstration of how a preliminary sketch of a landscape can be developed into a finished oil painting. He also talked about the importance of sensitive picture framing to enhance an image.

Manson is predominantly a landscape painter and is about to mount a solo exhibition of his work at Galgorm gallery in Ballymena, which will be opened by Julian Friers, the current President of the Royal Ulster Academy.
