Rotary Club business breakfasts '˜tour town'

The events, which take place each month, have already sampled Ulster fries at the Royal Hotel on the first Tuesday in October, and the Greenvale Hotel on Tuesday, Nov 8.

As well as breakfast and a chance to chat with Rotary Club members and business people from across the district, the event also hosts an interview with a leading local businessperson.

This week’s interviewee was Mid Ulster District Council’s Director of Business and Communities, Adrian McCreesh.

Much to the amusement of the crowd his prepared questions were soon disposed of by Alan Hogshaw, before he quizzed the “supportive” and “passionate” council worker on “what Mid Ulster can do for business”.

Mr McCreesh said he is normally a very private person, after advice from his old boss Michael McGuckin to “remain invisible and behind the scenes” as that’s “how you are most effective”.

He went on to talk about his family, his love of running and how he came to be in the role he holds today.

“I always wanted to be a lawyer, and thankfully that didn’t work out,” he said.

Mr McCreesh’s path to one of the top roles at Mid Ulster Council started with a call from his mum, who had cut a job out of the paper for a job Coalisland Enterprise Centre.

“Local government is what I do, it’s what I know,” he said before reminding the floor of what has been achieved in the area in the last 15 years.

The next business breakfast will be held in December.
