Rotary club mark special link with Sandelford

Coleraine Rotary Club marked their 75 anniversary with a special event called ‘Kids In Day’.

The event also marked ten years of a special link with Sandelford School.

The innovative idea of a ‘Kids In Day’ was the outcome of a chat between Sharon Tennant and Mary McKendry from Sandelford Special School and Derek Sinnamon from Coleraine Rotary Club.

The day aims to foster an increased awareness and acceptance of special needs in the community and among kids.

Asda provided the goodies and squash and Liam Hickey ,Peter Fitzgerald and Cliodhna Rea from Rotary played host to prepare a feast for the kids afterwards.

The Harpurs Hill Band musicians, under the direction of Stephanie McLaughlin, performed a mix of calypso tunes and beat music, accompanied by the exuberant Sandleford audience and enjoyed by the teaching staff as well.

It is hoped that this new day will go from strength to strength in the future.
