Rotary winner Gillian gets ready for New Zealand trip

The Rotary Club of Larne are celebrating the success of competition winner Gillian McAtackney who has come through the stages of a programme to be part of a four-person team going to New Zealand to represent Ireland in a group study exchange.

The competition invites applications from people under 40 years, in employment and willing to travel to another country, to learn and pass on information on their specific employment experience.

“Gillian is a superb example of the type of person to represent our club here in Larne and will be a great ambassador for the whole borough of Larne,” said Larne Rotary Club president William Cross.

Gillian attended a recent club meeting and gave a brief talk on her plans and ambitions for the trip where she hopes to learn more about the abuses of tobacco in the workplace. She also hopes to pass on her experiences on how she has been successful in getting people to stop smoking and improvement in their health.

Mr Cross congratulated Gillian on her success in the competition and wished her well on her travels to New Zealand.

He also asked her to come back and give the club a report on the trip when she returns.
