Rotary's trip to Rathlin for Chernobyl kids

Ballycastle Rotary Club recently treated a group of children from Chernobyl to a trip to Rathlin Island.

Thanks to the generosity of Rathlin Ferries and Mrs Mary O’Driscoll, the group enjoyed a wonderful day on the island. Francis McGinn, (complete with frisbees, tennis rackets and sweets) arranged bus travel to the West Lighthouse however, not before grabbing a picnic lunch and the obligatory cup of coffee in McCuaig’s Bar. Thanks to Catriona and Shauna for their generosity.

The RSPB site was a huge treat for the children - thanks to Allison McFaul and the volunteers for their kindness. Thanks to ‘Island Treasures’ for supplying ice lollies for the children.

Back in Ballycastle, Morton’s Fish and Chip Shop provided fish suppers were collected which boasted a taste and quantity matched only by the owner’s generosity.

Dining arrangements were provided by the Harbour Bar, further enhanced by a complimentary drink to wash all down. Thanks to Terence and Kate Bakewell for the use of their premises.
