Royal Black team out to Africa

A team of 17 people, organised by the Royal Black Institution flew out to Africa on Sunday to carry out a variety of projects at a hospital in Uganda.

Kiwoko Hospital is a community based facility of 245 beds in Uganda, opened in 1988 by Dr. Ian Clarke, formerly from Bangor in Co. Down.

The hospital serves tens of thousands of people in an area half the size of Northern Ireland. The Hospital also has a special dedicated mission, helping to spread the Christian message in the area.

Earlier in the year, the Royal Black Institution presented £90,000 to the hospital. Each of the team has raised £1200 to fund the trip and they are also taking clothes, toys and other items to distribute at the hospital. The team will spend two and a half weeks in Uganda.
