Royal honour for the Glenarm In Bloom team

The team of Rosaleen and Charlie Meban, Frances and Jackie Wilson and Alan Nesbitt received the award from Lord Lieutenant for Co Antrim, Mrs Joan Christie.

Also in attendance at the event in the Eglinton Yard were the two Deputy Lord Lieutenants, Neil Solsbury and Miranda Tisdale, as well as Mayor of Mid and East Antrim council, Councillor Audrey Wales.

Deputy Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim Viscount Dunluce, who nominated the group for the award, said: “On so many levels, Glenarm in Bloom have demonstrated what QAVS is meant to be all about: selfless dedication to one’s community, a huge amount of hard graft and backbreaking endeavour, inspiring others to get involved and see what can be achieved, and in the process creating a positive and uplifting community spirit for the benefit of all.

“The threshold for success for the QAVS is demanding, and many credible applications are always not recognised, which should make us all feel especially proud of this achievement.

“Aurora and I feel honoured to be part of this community and have the opportunity to promote and recognise the wonderful people who make it such a special place.”
