Royal visit to showcase Northern Ireland’s past, present and future

Buckingham Palace have announced details of the venues Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will visit during their trip to Northern Ireland next week.

It has been confirmed Her Majesty will pay a fourth visit to Coleraine on Wednesday 25 June.

Commenting on the visit programme the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP said: “I believe this will be an important and inspiring Royal visit. The programme announced today will give Her Majesty and His Royal Highness the opportunity to see many different aspects of Northern Ireland - representing its past, its present and its future.

“It will demonstrate how Northern Ireland is now a centre for the creative industries, and home to talented people and innovative businesses. And of course it will show the world that Northern Ireland’s best days are still ahead as work continues to build a shared and prosperous society for all its people to celebrate and be proud of.”

Venues for the 3-day visit include Crumlin Road Gaol in North Belfast, the Game of Thrones set in Titanic Quarter and Belfast City Hall.

The Royal couple will also be guests of honour at the Secretary of State’s Garden Party at Hillsborough Castle on Tuesday, which will be attended by more than 1,800 guests. And the following day they will take part in First World War commemorations in Coleraine hosted by the Borough Council.
