The South African International rugby player was joined by Ulster coach Jonny Bell at the event, during which the pair answered questions from the packed audience of over 100 people at Larne Town Hall.

Guests at the event, which was held on February 26, saw Rotary President Gordon Cowie present Piennar with a cheque for £500 for the South African’s chosen charity, Tearfund.

Gordon thanked all those who supported the breakfast, as well as the two speakers, for giving up their valuable time to come to Larne and answer questions from rugby fans.

Rotary Club member John Shannon told The Times: “We had Jonny Bell out to speak to the club a year ago and then thought we would try to get Ruan Piennar to come out.

“The town hall was completely full with over 100 people and there was a Q&A session.

“It was a great event and we were absolutely delighted as it was so successful.
