Running man donates new computer kit to Tullyally day care centre

Well done to Anthony Quinn, who with Brendan Carlin recently completed the Walled City Marathon under sponsorship, and used the proceeds to donate two new pieces of computer equipment to the Valley Day Centre in Tullyally.

The day care centre - located in Glendermott Business Park in Tullyally - provides support, personal care and therapeutic interventions for up to twenty five people who are over 18 years of age and have been assessed as having a learning disability.

Anthony very generously donated two new Samsung Galaxy Tablets to the centre, following the completion of the marathon in June.

Ms Caroline Morewood (pictured above) is the registered manager and has overall responsibility for a number of such centres around the Londonderry area.

She said: “The tablets will be of great use to the people who use the centre.”

The primary focus of the centre is to promote independence through programmes of integration and interaction within the local community.

Individuals who attend the centre partake in a full range of activities incorporating leisure, education, crafts and work based experience, including work in a garden centre.

The centre is operated and run by the Western Trust. Mr Robert Dougherty, a Senior Day Care Worker, manages the centre on a day to day basis with the support of a team of care staff.
