Running the Belfast marathon for good causes

THE Belfast Marathon offers a golden opportunity for clubs, organisations and charities to raise valuable funds.

And in Cloughmills, a number of people have been putting themselves through the paces in preparation for the forthcoming event.

Anne Marie McCann, Chris McAuley and Chris Henderson will each play a part in relays to raise money for Cloughmills Boys and Girls Football Club while a number of others will take part to benefit Downs Syndrome.

These include Donal Martin, chairman of Cloughmills Boys and Girls Club, Elaine Hannigan, Paddy and Mary Hegarty and Steven and Donna Magill.

Elaine Hannigan explained that they had both a walking and running team and that all proceeds would stay in Northern Ireland.

Elaine is a meber of the Causeway Parent Group of Downs Syndrome and she is very happy at the fact that all proceeds will be spent locally.

Keen to get as much money as possible, Elaine says that people can donate at Magills Butchers and Cost Cutters both in Main Street, Cloughmills, or at the Progressive Building Society in Ballymena.

A donation box has also been left at Pattersons Shop in the village for contributions to the Football Club.
