Rural initiativeleads to arrests

LONDONDERRY councillor and District Policing Partnership Chair Thomas Conway says a number of arrests have been made following the launch of a number of initiatives aimed at clamping down on rural crime.

Mr Conway welcomed the work being carried out by the PSNI to ensure that the rural community is being protected from unwanted criminal activity.

“A number of recent initiatives have been undertaken by the PSNI such as trailer marking events and the launch of a rural text alert scheme. Such initiatives go a long way in making our rural community a safer place to work and live,” he said.

He continued: “I’m aware that a number of individuals that were arrested by the police are now helping them with their enquiries and I would like to acknowledge the work being carried out by the PSNI to drive down rural crime and ensure that our community is not seen as a soft target by thieves and criminals.”
