Rural schooling issues considered

The new chair of the Education Committee, Michelle McIlveen MLA has met with representatives from Scarva Primary School along with her DUP colleagues David Simpson MP and Sydney Anderson MLA.

The meeting was set up to allow Miss McIlveen the opportunity to see first hand the concerns of primary schools in the Banbridge area.

Upper Bann MP David Simpson praised the work of Scarva Primary School and spoke of the key role they play in the local community. “Many people today can testify of the influence that the school has had in the local community and I pay tribute to the staff of Scarva Primary for the dedication and commitment they have shown to their students” he said.

“With the financial difficulties being faced within the Department of Education, I remain committed to ensuring that our local schools have the necessary support and resources to maintain their standard of teaching.”
