Ryan is in fine tune

A LURGAN College pupil has been chosen to represent the North of Ireland Bands Association in the 2010 European Youth Brass Band.

Ryan Parks from Bleary will head to Linz in Austria for the European Brass Band Championships.

He will travel to the championships with fellow Poyntzpass Silver Band member Gemma McKee.

Ryan, who is currently studying for his A-Levels is the band's principal cornet player.

The European Youth Brass Band is made up of the best young players between the ages of 17and 21 from across the member associations of European Brass Bands Association.

A spokesman for the band congratulated both Ryan and Gemma.

He added: "This is a great opportunity and is also a great honour for Poyntzpass Silver Band to have two young people represent them at such a prestigious event."
