Sadie’s 60 years!

THERE were diamond anniversary celebrations at Gordons Chemists, Portrush, last week when owner Robert Gordon congratulated Sadie Jefferson on her 60 years service in the store.

Sadie started working in the store in 1951 and during her employment with Gordons Chemists has never had a day off sick.

Robert Gordon said: “Sadie’s attendance record and length of service is to be congratulated.

“She is truly committed to her job, having been content with working in the same store for 60 years.

“Gordons Chemists is privileged to have staff as committed as Sadie on our payroll.”

A thrilled Sadie said: “It was a complete shock when Robert arrived instore to surprise me on 60 years service and a great honour too!

“I received a massive bouquet of flowers, Galway crystal champagne flutes, a meal voucher and a beautiful card.

“I’ve worked in this chemist for so long but I have no desire to work anywhere else. It’s part of my life and I love it.

“I’ve seen many changes over the years but thankfully I’ve managed to get to grips with the modern technology of tills and computers and every day I’m always learning, it’s great to keep my mind active.

“I’ve no immediate plans to put my feet up, I love going to work and playing bowling matches and hope to continue for many years to come.”

Joining in the celebrations with Sadie were area manager Tony Toner and store manager Lyndsay Sinclaire.
