Safety concerns discussed following teen’s death
A meeting last Friday, just seven days after the 15-year-old was knocked down and killed in a tragic accident while walking along the Donaghcloney Road, was attended by police, Roads Service and local MLA Jo-Anne Dobson.
Roads Service said they would hold a consulation on traffic calming measures and better street lighting on the rural road as soon as money became available for such a scheme.

“We would like the group to link with local police in terms of educating the two primary schools for safety while out walking on the roads,” he said. “We would like to be able to fundraise for high visibility jackets and armbands and provide them to local people.”
Paying tribute to his son following his death earlier this month Michael Preece said, “He was great – a wonderful boy, full of life, fun and energy.”
