It is understood that as a result of work carried out in the Beechway area of the town last year, four street lights were removed, three of which were adjacent to playing fields.

According to Cllr Tony Quinn, who praised the work of Roads Service in Cookstown to date, residents are “very concerned” for their safety, particularly the elderly and those who walk their children to school.

At a recent council committee meeting, Cllr Quinn asked for a meeting, with UUP councillor, Trevor Wilson, concurring with that request and further asking for details about the number of attacks which had taken place in the area.
