Mr McGlone said, “A number of concerns have been raised with my office regarding road safety along the Cavanreagh Road, Draperstown. It is a blackspot for traffic accidents, with several having occurred in the last few months.”

“I requested a site meeting with Roads Service to discuss possible solutions to these concerns and other ways in which road safety could be improved,” continued Mr McGlone.

“As a result of these meetings, Roads Service have agreed to repair all the damaged signs at the location as soon as possible. In addition, Roads Service have committed to replace or renew the road surface with a high skid resistant surface and provide new centre and edge of carriageway road markings,

“The work is expected to be completed during this summer and should address the safety concerns of all local road users.

“I would again thank Roads Service for their continued commitment to maintaining our rural road network in difficult financial times.

“The SDLP will continue to represent the concerns of local communities to ensure that our rural roads network is maintained to the highest possible standard.”
