Commenting Mrs Dobson said: “Following a number of serious accidents, including a three-car collision back in 2011, I successfully lobbied for safety measures to be installed at the approach to this junction.

“Last August the main Banbridge Road was resurfaced, however I have been contacted by local residents who have expressed concerns that the road safety surface which was removed during the resurfacing, has not been replaced.

“Given that five months have passed since the completion of the road works I have written to the Divisional Roads Manager to request that the junction be reassessed and the safety measures be reinstated.

“This is a junction at which there have been a number of accidents and it is vital that it is assessed and measures installed to reduce the risks to motorists and pedestrians.”
