The funds were collected for the group, part of Carrickfergus YMCA, during the Local Charity of the Year scheme.

The PAKT ethos is to bring the family unit together by concentrating on relationships between parents and children, the group said.

The programme is split into four elements, namely programmes for primary school age children (from P2 to P7), programmes for teenagers, programmes for parents and the fourth element brings all the family together.

The group was chosen by customers and colleagues last June and has received support from the store for the past year.

Activities have included collection days and supporting their Bible and cookery classes.

Sainsbury’s Carrickfergus colleague Christine Shannon also volunteered for PAKT allowing the charity to receive an additional £200 through a Local Heroes grant.
