Saints and Scholars Spring clean Ballance House

GLENAVY: An eager task force of 21 volunteers descended on The Ballance House at Lisburn Road on Friday 16th March for a spring clean of the property before the house opens to the public for the visitor season on 1st April.

The task force comprised of 10 volunteers, organised by Volunteeer Now as part of their ‘Be a Saint Day’, from Springvale Learning and 11 regular volunteers from Ballance House. Mops and buckets, aprons, feather dusters and elbow grease were to the fore as everyone started removing cobwebs, cleaning windows and carefully cleaning the many artefacts for visitors to enjoy during the summer season.

Welcome breaks for tea or coffee provided time to sit and enjoy a chat before resuming the work.

At the end of the day, thanks to the hard work of all involved, Ballance House was spic and span ready to welcome visitors from far and near.

Ballance House is open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 2 - 5pm and public holidays except 12th July. Group visits can be arranged at any time. Tel: 02892 651564
