Salvation Army welcomes new officer

THE Salvation Army in Ballymoney has given a warm welcome to their new minister Captain Tracey Godfrey.

Captain Tracey is originally from Dundonald, and joined The Salvation Army at the age of 13.

She has been a Salvation Army Officer (fully ordained minister) for over six years, serving in Shotts Salvation Army church in east Scotland and as chaplain in a social service centre for men who have found themselves homeless and at a centre for those with learning difficulties.

Captain Tracey will have a joint ministry in charge of Ballymoney and Coleraine Salvation Army churches.

“It’s lovely to be ministering back home and close to family,” said Captain Tracey.

“I’m looking forward to raising the profile of The Salvation Army in Ballymoney and Coleraine and to working together as a band of God’s people, striving to serve the communities in which we are called to serve and seeing men, women and young children come to know Jesus as Lord.”

Captain Tracey is excited about what God has in store for the future of The Salvation Army within the local community.

“A verse that has been on my mind lately is from Philippians 1:6, which says,”…He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ”.

She added: “I believe God has much for The Salvation Army to do, though we need to be obedient and take up our cross daily and follow Him.

“I believe the best is yet to be, and that God is going to use each one of us in more ways than we could ever imagine.”

A warm welcome is extended to the local community to come along to Sunday worship (3pm) or week day activities (Friendship Group on the last Monday in each month at 2:00pm-3:00pm and Parents and Toddlers on Tuesday mornings at 10:00am – 12 noon), at Ballymoney Salvation Army Hall, Meeting House Street.
