Samaritans praise for caretaker Davy

Prior to the meeting a presentation was made to Davy Boyle, Coleraine’s ‘Caring Caretaker’, for a very generous donation made to the branch from his charitable fundraising activities. A gift of flowers was also presented to, Davy’s “long suffering wife” Teresa in recognition of her support for him through his long years of charitable work. The presentations were made by Catherine Johnstone, C.E.O. of Samaritans.

Also present were Susanne Costello, Director Samaritans Ireland, Giovanni Doran, Regional Representative and the Mayor of Coleraine, Cllr Maurice Bradley.

Brendan, Branch Chairman, when thanking Davy for his generous donation, referred to him as “a veritable legend in this area whose charitable work knows no bounds”.

Catherine also commented :”Don’t forget that behind every good man is a good woman!”

Councillor Bradley added: “Samaritans in Coleraine and the surrounding areas have done a remarkable and valuable job serving the community over the past forty years and I wish them all the best for the next fprty”.

As Samaritans is a self funding organisation and the volunteers give of their time freely, the donation from Davy will help the organisation to keep providing the standard of service the community deserves.
