Brendan, Branch Chairman, when thanking Davy for his generous donation, referred to him as “a veritable legend in this area whose charitable work knows no bounds”.

Catherine also commented :”Don’t forget that behind every good man is a good woman!”

Councillor Bradley added: “Samaritans in Coleraine and the surrounding areas have done a remarkable and valuable job serving the community over the past forty years and I wish them all the best for the next fprty”.

As Samaritans is a self funding organisation and the volunteers give of their time freely, the donation from Davy will help the organisation to keep providing the standard of service the community deserves.

A Samaritans spokesperson said: “We would also like to offer special thanks to the management and staff of the Magherabuoy Hotel for hosting the event in a very professional and hospitable environment, to Louise McLean of Atlantic Crafts who provided exquisite hand painted glassware for gifts, and Lynne McIntyre of Buds “N” Bows in Ballymoney for the generous provision of the fantastic floral arrangements fashioned by herself.

“Last, but by no means least, we would like to thank the community and those organisations with whom we interact for their support through the years as without this support we would not be able to continue to provide the services we offer.

“Samaritans offer 24/7 emotional support to those who are distressed, in despair or suicidal. We can be contacted by phone, by e-mail, by letter, by text or by calling into your local branch. All contacts are totally confidential.”
