Businesses, church and community organisations and the wider rural family are welcome to attend an Information Session and Workshop in the local Orange Hall on Wednesday 6th August from 8.00pm to 9.30pm to continue the process of planning for the local area.

The event is part of a Cookstown-wide village planning process which is also happening in Moneymore; Dunamore, Broughderg, Gortacladdy and Killeenan; Stewartstown; Pomeroy; The Rock; and Coagh, with future events planned in the Tullyhogue and Lissan/Churchtown areas.

“This is part of Cookstown District Council’s updating of existing Village Regeneration Plans or development of new plans for the Sandholes, Tullyhogue and Lissan/Churchtown areas explained RDC’s Michael Kelly, who is helping co-ordinate the series of events.

“It’s about giving local people the chance to set out how they’d like to see things develop locally.

The idea is that projects which they identify might then get funding from the new Rural Development Programme or other funds”

All the Cookstown village plans will be completed before the end of the Summer with the focus then shifting to getting funding for projects and the improvements that the plans have identified.
