Sandra’s £2,000 boost for Pretty n Pink breast cancer charity

Sandra Hanna lobbied family and friends to help her raise money for the Pretty n Pink, the only registered Breast Cancer charity in Northern Ireland.

Sandra, from Castle Street, centred most of her collection at The Scenic Inn, Armoy, on Friday night and a packed house dug deep to deliver her a healthy amount.

Pretty n Pink is close to Sandra’s heart – and given the success of the weekend’s effort, she plans to organise further events including a parachute jump next year.

“Everyone has been absolutely brilliant and I couldn’t have done it without them,” she said.

“I also know that the Scenic is very good at helping volunteers collect money and that’s why I came to them.”

Accompanied by her friends, Caitlin and Maggie Christie, Sandra had already collected a substantial amount before Friday night and is hoping that further donations in the coming days will further boost the final amount.

Founded in 2006 by Noleen Adair, Pretty n Pink is run by a very small team of people including a breast cancer survivor and local volunteers from across the province.

All the funds raised go directly back to Breast Cancer patients and their families in Northern Ireland.

The charity aims to create awareness of Breast Cancer in the province in young women as well as providing funds for patients who do not meet the criteria for any other pubic or charitable funding.

It also aims to improve the quality of life amongst patients and their families.

Founder Noleen Adair passed away earlier this year after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 35 years old.
