With the help of the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, Councillor Audrey Wales, MBE, Santa will celebrate the festive season with a parade across the town.

Cllr Wales said: “This is a real family-themed event, all the more so as pupils from local schools and from other groups have all been busy making beautiful lanterns for the magical parade that promises fantastic floats and Christmas characters.

“Everyone is invited to the parade as it leaves Agnew Street at 6.30 pm and proceed along Main Street to Broadway,” she added.

It will pause briefly to allow Santa and Cllr Wales to ‘flick the switch’ which will light up the Broadway Christmas Tree.

Santa and the Mayor will then continue along Point Street, Lower Cross Street and back along Main Street allowing plenty of opportunity for everyone to see all the schools and groups participating in this year’s parade.

Entertainment is laid on too. At Broadway Plaza, Zolene Mayberry and the ALS Band will be entertaining the crowds from 6pm-6.45pm, followed by Mark Dobbin, Sounds Good Music.

There will be plenty of street entertainers to keep the whole family amused in the area until Santa arrives. Everyone is encouraged to gather on the parade route to cheer on Santa in his sleigh, and view the lantern parade.

Please note a section of Agnew Street car park will be closed in advance of this event.
