Santa is coming to Saintfield

The eighth Annual Saintfield Christmas Charity Santa Ride, now famous throughout Ireland, takes place on Saturday, December 6 from Saintfield Livestock Mart, by very kind permission of Mr Brian and Geoffrey Murphy.

The day kicks off with everyone arriving at Saintfield Livestock Mart at 11am for a mulled wine and mince pie reception in the marquee. At 12 noon the Santas on horseback will leave the Mart, led by the ‘Real Santa’ in a magnificent horse-drawn carriage.

At 1pm the Santas will swarm Saintfield Main Street. The carriage leading the ride will stop at the Christmas Tree where Santa and his celebrity guests will alight to meet and greet everyone.

The crowds will be entertained with Christmas music and carols from the famous Panache.

Comedian Terence McKeag will also be there. The ride will then make its way back to the Mart to enjoy lunch and more entertainment from Panache and Terence McKeag.

There will be lots of prizes for the best turned out Santas and every child under 12 taking part in the ride will receive an award. Entrance to the marquee is free and anyone wishing to have lunch can do so for a donation of £5, children free. The ride, which is strictly a hack, is suitable for all riders. The cost of the ride is £20 for adults and £10 children. This will include the mulled wine reception and lunch.
