They recognise the wealth of innovative and creative designers, from students emerging into the industry, to established designers making waves on the fashion scene internationally.

Portstewart woman, Sara is the only established designer from Northern Ireland to be shortlisted.

Until recently, Sara was best known as a leading stylist and illustrator, but she has uniquely combined her two passions – fashion and art - with the love of her native north coast of Ireland, to create a range of luxury printed textiles.

‘Eadach’ is influenced by Ireland’s rich cultural heritage, and blends Sara’s signature pencil drawings with abstract imagery, to create richly coloured, contemporary patterns which are then printed on to pure silk.

“I’m thrilled to be shortlisted as ‘Accessory Designer of the Year’ in these prestigious awards,” told Sara.

“To be honest, it’s surprising because after graduating twelve years ago, I had never planned to become a designer, I always saw myself as a stylist and illustrator, creating images.

“The idea of Éadach kept growing and forming in my mind, until it became a reality just over a year ago, creating a brand that brings together everything I’ve learned from a decade in the fashion industry with stories from my childhood and surroundings”.

On March 10, Sara’s Eadach collection will hit the runway in Galway to be showcased alongside other top designers.
