Savage meets police chief

UPPER Bann Ulster Unionist Assembly Member George Savage MLA met with local PSNI District Commander, Chief Insp. Jason Murphy last week to discuss the local security situation amongst other matters of concern.

Speaking after the meeting, George said: “In what was a constructive and informative meeting, I was grateful to the District Commander for taking the time to meet with me. During the meeting, I received an update on the local security situation - where following the detailed briefing – I am confident that police have the resources and the support with which to keep the community safe on a day to day basis whilst also dealing with the dissident threat.

“I again took the opportunity to reiterate my support for the police and to commend them for the actions over the past few days, weeks and months and I asked that my best wishes and that of the community as a whole, be sent to the three officers who were injured during the disturbances in Craigavon last month.

“I also took the opportunity to raise issues around burglaries against the elderly and a number of local traffic and road safety matters of which I look forward to an update in the near future.”
