Save with Translink’s cash-free travel

ULSTERBUS in Newry is encouraging passengers to save money and take advantage of cash-free bus travel by using a Smartlink card.

From now until the end of March, Translink Ulsterbus drivers in the Newry area will be handing out special smartlink vouchers redeemable for a free smart card to customers who pay by cash.

This initiative is to encourage them to use Smartlink multi journey tickets or travelcards by highlighting the great savings they can make if they make the switch to Smartlink.

Translink’s Service Delivery Manager for Newry Greg McLaughlin said “To encourage cash-fare passengers to use Smartlink, our bus drivers will be handing out £1.50 off vouchers that can be used against the initial purchase of an Ulsterbus Smartlink Multi-Journey or Smartlink Travelcard with at least five journeys or one day’s travel.

Passengers travelling on Newry Town services using a smartlink Multi-Journey card can save 50p per journey compared to cash-fares.

“We hope our passengers will take advantage of these excellent savings and enjoy Smartlink as a safer and more convenient way to travel that also speeds up boarding and journey times.”

The vouchers can only be redeemed at Newry Bus Station. For further information click www.translink.co.uk or call (028) 90 66 66 30.
