Scenes from draftFountain musical to be performed

A new musical telling the story of Londonderry’s Fountain area is currently under development, it’s been revealed.

Local singer-songwriter, Roy Arbuckle, is developing ‘Songs of The Fountain’ - a suite of songs for a musical performance - which is intended to illuminate the story of the people of the Greater Fountain area.

The project will be partly based around Roy’s LP of the same name, which was released to critical acclaim in 2008. It is hoped the musical can help communities better relate to their own environment and cultures as well as promoting greater mutual understanding.

Directed by Michael Nangle, two scenes from the early draft of the ‘The Fountain - a musical’ script will be presented at a Garden of Reflection/Towards Understanding and Healing Lunchtime Event at the Junction in the Holywell, Diversecity Community Partnership Building, 8-14 Bishop Street, on Wednesday, September 24 at 12.30pm.
