School Bank thanks to Northern

Students will gain valuable experience in managing their money by operating a real bank account both in and outside the school environment.

School Bank is operated by pupils and supervised by a member of teaching staff along with a member of staff from Northern Bank Ballymoney. Pupils can lodge or withdraw money from their account through their school bank or at any Northern Bank branch.

Vincent McCarry, Branch Manager from Northern Bank Ballymoney said: “Through School Bank we can help young people today to avoid expensive mistakes in the future, helping them to understand money and take responsibility for their own finances. This also helps to develop their confidence in making the right financial choices when they leave home to work or for further education.”

School Bank is part of a wide range of programmes and activities offered by Northern Bank to encourage young people to become confident in managing their finances and being well-informed consumers.
