School bus driver gets his bus pass

MOORFIELDS primary said goodbye to bus driver Billy Young last week who has retired after 17 years with school.

Billy, 64, began driving the bus for the school for nearly two decades and has seen many changes, most notably the opening of the brand new school.

The popular driver who is retiring due to health reasons, told the Times driving the bus didn’t feel like work, he said: “I really enjoyed the job, the staff were helpful and I got on well with the youngsters, it sure did beat working.

“I will be taking away fond memories of working here although I am looking forward to taking life easy.”

Speaking on Thursday, Principal Gillian Scott, wished Billy an enjoyable retirement, she said: “Billy was always very helpful, it will be sad to see him go.

“The staff would like to wish him a long and peaceful retirement.”
