School Governors sought

‘Serving as a school governor is an excellent way to put something back into your local community’.

That was the message from Education Minister John O’Dowd as he encouraged local people to consider applying for vacant posts as school governors who provide a public service in an unpaid capacity.

People aged over 18, from all walks of life, can apply to become a school governor and no formal qualifications

are required.

Minister O’Dowd says: “If you have some spare time and the ability in work in a team and a willingness to listen, learn and undertake training, you could become a school governor. If you have an interest in education and are enthusiastic and committed, I encourage you to apply.”
