School offers free digital photography course

NEWTOWNABBEY Community High School is continuing its work within the local community by running a free digital photography course.

The six-week beginners’ digital photography and image editing course, which is open to anyone over the age of 18 years, will get under way at the school next Thursday, February 11.

The course is open to individuals who have limited or no knowledge of basic photography and image editing. Tuition and instruction will be provided by teacher Gary Armstrong and Newtownabbey Times photographer Freddie Parkinson.

“Our school is determined to build even stronger links with our pupils’ parents and the parents of children at local primary schools, and it is these partnerships that enable creative and engaging education to be delivered in a school committed to its extended community.

“A partnership approach gives families and community members a greater opportunity to participate in the wide range of school involvement activities, but it also gives them a voice in the school's decision-making process as well as real roles and responsibilities in school improvement efforts,” a NCHS spokesman said.

Places on the course are limited, so anyone who wants to book one should do so as soon as possible by telephoning Simon Smyth on 9085 1558.
