School takes the top honour in competition

ICT coordinator Mrs Wendy Radcliffe entered pupils, Viggo Stanczak, Harry Gillanders and Matthew Gillespie into the competition and are to be congratulated on their video which was very innovative, promoting positive messages about online safety and how to handle the internet responsibly.

As part of the Safer Internet Day 2016 theme ‘Play your part for a better Internet’, the Education Authority, UK Safer Internet, and other partners, provided a competition to engage young people in addressing key issues regarding their safety online.

Schools were invited to submit a short video sharing their views on what young people should do to make their Internet experience safer. Over 70 videos were submitted by schools, in powerful and creative formats.

The Education Authority announced the winners of its first e-safety competition via a live video stream to schools throughout Northern Ireland, at a special studio screening organised by C2k and EAtv, with Junior Minister, Jennifer McCann presenting the top prizes to schools.

Viggo, Harry and Matthew from Killicomaine JHS will now see their video used as a C2k Internet safety resource which will be viewed by pupils, parents and teachers throughout Northern Ireland.
