Schoolboy fights for life

A 14-year-old schoolboy is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car in Lisburn.

The teenager was cycling when he was hit by the car on the Knockmore Road shortly after 6.40pm on Tuesday evening. He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital with serious injuries and underwent an operation. His condition is described as critical.

The road between Prince William Road and Ballymacash Road was closed to traffic for several hours by police.
