Oran Creaney and his mother and father Aisling and Barry had been instrumental in raising funds for an MRI scanner for the children’s hospital in Belfast after Oran had to be rushed to Dublin to avail of such a scanner hours after he was born with a chronic congenital heart defect.

The St Anthony’s pupil, who has a younger sister Molly, had undergone open heart surgery on a number of occasions and his brave fight for life had inspired thousands to donate to the MRI scanner appeal.

Last week, with the prayers of the town behind him, Oran was taken by air ambulance to Newcastle for a heart transplant, but sadly he passed away on Tuesday.
