Schools come together for photography workshop

Work began and finished in the Laragh Lodge, where staff provided refreshments on arrival and a hearty lunch later, following staff and pupils’ hike and photoshoot activities.

The children were coached and mentored by Cahill McNaughton Snr, who gave expert advice on photography skills, camera settings and composing pictures. The children were taken out into the forest in small groups where they used their creativity and imagination to personalise a range of subject matter including flora, fauna and, of course, the famous falls.

Upon return, Cahill had the challenging job of selecting some winning photos from the best of each individual’s shots. Pupils from both schools were rewarded for their efforts and everyone had a fabulous lunch before returning home.

The event concluded shared activity between the two schools for this year - the eighth of the programme so far.

“The pupils have had a large number of opportunities to engage, learn together and develop friendship, respect and understanding between the two school communities,” said Glengormley IPS principal Nigel Arnold. “We wish all the children much success as they each head off to their new post-primary schools and hope that some of them will keep in touch and fondly remember their good times throughout their years, working together.”
